In the eighth year, in spring, the first month, on the day jimao, the winter sacrifice was conducted.

The Son of Heaven of Zhou sent Jia Fu to Lu on a friendly mission.

In summer, the fifth month, on the day dingchou, the winter sacrifice was conducted.

In autumn, an attack was made on the state of Zhu.

In winter, the tenth month, snow fell.

The Duke of Ji came, and afterwards went to the state of Ji to welcome the queen.

In the eighth year, in spring, the state of Yi was destroyed.

The Junior Master of Sui was favored by Chu. Dou Bobi said: "Now it is possible. The enemy has an opening; it must not be missed." In summer, the Chu ruler convened the lords at Shenlu, but the states of Huang and Sui did not attend. The King of Chu sent Wei Zhang to reprimand Huang, and personally attacked Sui, encamping his army between the Han and Huai rivers. Ji Liang requested to submit to Chu, and if Chu did not accept, then to do battle, so as to enrage our own troops and slacken the enemy's. The Junior Master said to the Marquis of Sui: "We must fight quickly, or we will lose the chance to defeat the Chu army." The Marquis of Sui led his forces to resist, observing the Chu army from afar. Ji Liang said: "The Chu regard the left as honorable; my lord must attack their left wing, and not engage the Chu king directly. For now, strike their right wing; the right wing has no elite troops and will surely be defeated. If the flank is defeated, the entire host will scatter." The Junior Master said: "Not engaging the Chu king directly is to be no equal opponent." The Marquis of Sui did not follow Ji Liang's advice. The two sides fought at Suqi, and the Sui army suffered a great defeat. The Marquis of Sui fled; Dou Dan captured the marquis's chariot and chariot-riding officer, and the Junior Master was also taken prisoner. In autumn, Sui sought peace with Chu. The Chu ruler was about to refuse, but Dou Bobi said: "Heaven has already removed their calamity (the Junior Master); Sui cannot yet be completely conquered." Thus they formed an alliance and the Chu army returned home.

In winter, the Son of Heaven of Zhou ordered Guo Zhong to install Min, the younger brother of the Marquis Ai of Jin, as ruler of Jin.

The Duke of Ji came, and afterwards went to the state of Ji to welcome the queen; this was in accordance with ritual propriety.
