Duke Zhuang, Year 1

Chapter 1

First year, spring, the king’s first month.

Third month, the lady (Wen Jiang) fled to Qi.

Summer, Shan Bo escorted the king’s daughter (Princess Ji) to be married.

Autumn, a lodge was built outside the city for Princess Ji.

Winter, tenth month, on the day Yihai, Marquis Chen (the ruler of Chen), Lin, died.

The king sent Rong Shu to bestow the robe of office upon Duke Huan (of Lu).

Princess Ji was married to Qi.

The Qi army relocated the population and resources of Ji, the Bi, the Zi, and the Wu territories.

First year, spring, (Duke Zhuang of Lu) was not referred to as having ascended the throne, because of Lady Wen Jiang’s flight.

Third month, the lady fled to Qi. (The Spring and Autumn Annals records it) without calling her “of the Jiang clan,” thereby severing familial ties with her, which was in accordance with ritual.

Autumn, a lodge was built outside the city for Princess Ji, because (she) was a woman of a different clan, which was in accordance with ritual.
