Difficulty 31
The Triple Burner receives what, generates what, where does it begin, where does it end, and where is its treatment site frequently located? Can you let me know about this?
It is like this. The Triple Burner is the pathway for the movement of water and grain, and the place where qi begins and ends. The Upper Burner is below the heart, connects downward to the diaphragm, and is at the upper opening of the stomach. It governs intake without discharge. Its treatment site is at Danzhong, one inch and six fen below the Yutang point, directly opposite the depression between the two breasts. The Middle Burner is at the site of the middle stomach cavity, neither above nor below. It governs the rotting and ripening of water and grain. Its treatment site is beside the navel. The Lower Burner is directly at the upper opening of the bladder. It governs the separation of clear and turbid, and governs discharge without intake, serving to transmit and conduct. Its treatment site is one inch below the navel. Thus it is called the Triple Burner. Its associated bowel is at Qijie (according to one edition, at the Chong channel).
