Difficulty 63

Chapter 63 asks: The Ying-spring and He-sea points of the five zang and six fu organs all take the Jing-well points as their beginning. Why is this?

The answer says: The Jing-well point corresponds to the East and the season of spring. It is the time when the ten thousand things begin to sprout and grow. All creatures that crawl and breathe, that fly and wriggle—indeed, everything that ought to grow—none fails to rely on spring for its sprouting. Therefore, the count of the year begins with spring, and the count of the day begins with the jia day. Thus, the Jing-well point serves as the beginning.
