Quan Yu

Preface: The poem "Quan Yu" satirizes Duke Kang of Qin. He forgot the former ministers and virtuous men from the time of his predecessor, Duke Mu of Qin. He began things but never brought them to a good end.

“How they treated me! In former days, I dwelt in spacious chambers; now, at every meal, I eat everything up and have nothing left. Alas, alas! I cannot carry on the generous treatment of those early days.”

“How they treated me! In former days, at every meal there were four dishes; now, at every meal, I cannot eat my fill. Alas, alas! I cannot carry on the generous treatment of those early days.”

The poem "Quan Yu" has two stanzas, each with five lines.

The poems of Qin consist of ten pieces, twenty-seven stanzas, and one hundred and eighty-one lines.
