Cai Fan (Gathering Wormwood)

Preface: The poem "Gathering Artemisia" speaks of the lady not losing her proper duties. When the lady is able to participate in sacrificial affairs, she has not lost her duties.

Where to gather the white artemisia? By the pond's edge, on the islet. What is the white artemisia gathered for? For the use of the lord's sacrifice.

Where to gather the white artemisia? In the streams of the mountain ravines. What is the white artemisia gathered for? For the use of the lord's ancestral temple.

The headdress is adorned, many and orderly; from dawn to dusk she toils in the lord's court. The headdress is adorned, numerous and splendid; after a brief rest, she returns to continue her labor.

"Gathering Artemisia" consists of three stanzas, each with four lines.
