How Splendid It Is
Preface: “How Luxuriant Are They?” is a poem praising the royal princess. Although the royal princess was married to a feudal lord, her chariot, horses, and attire did not degrade because of her husband’s status, being only one rank lower than the queen. She still strictly observed the way of a wife, thereby achieving a character of solemn respect and gentle harmony.
How so luxuriant and fair? Like the flowers of the cherry tree. Why not solemn and mild? It is the chariot of the royal princess on her wedding journey.
How so luxuriant and fair? The flowers are like peach and plum blossoms. She is the granddaughter of King Ping, the daughter of the Marquis of Qi.
What is used for fishing? A fishing line twisted from silk threads. She is the daughter of the Marquis of Qi, the granddaughter of King Ping.
“How Luxuriant Are They?” has three stanzas, each stanza with four lines.
