Hymns of Zhou
Bumper Harvest
Chapter 14
Harvest Year
Preface: "Harvest Year" is a joyful hymn offered in autumn and winter to thank and honor the spirits.
In the year of bountiful harvest, the yield is good—millet abundant, rice plentiful, granaries piled high to the brim, grain numbering in the tens of thousands, in the hundreds of millions.
Clear wine and sweet wine are brewed, presented to the ancestors and ancestresses, in accord with all the sacrificial rites; the spirits bestow blessings that reach everywhere under heaven.
The poem "Harvest Year," in one stanza, consists of seven lines.
