Enduring Wind

The preface to "Zhong Feng" says: The poem "Zhong Feng" was written by Wei Zhuang Jiang (the wife of Duke Zhuang of Wei) grieving over her own misfortunes. She encountered the tyranny of Zhou Yu (son of Duke Zhuang of Wei, who later killed his lord and seized power), was slighted and insulted, yet was powerless to correct it.

The wind is both fierce and strong, it also laughs and mocks me. Its playful teasing and frivolity bring deep sorrow to my heart.

The wind raises clouds of dust, yet it comes gently and willingly. It neither comes nor goes, and my longing stretches endlessly.

The wind darkens the sky, the sun is hidden and overcast. Awake, I cannot sleep, hoping it will sneeze (as a sign of missing me).

The sky is gloomy and dark, the thunder rumbles and booms. Awake, I cannot sleep, hoping it will think of me.

"Zhong Feng" has four stanzas, each with four lines.
