The Mountain Has the Mulberry Tree

Preface: "The Mountain Has Mulberry Trees" is a satire on Duke Zhao of Zheng, named Hu. What he considered beautiful was not actually beautiful.

On the mountain grow lush mulberry trees; in the lowlands bloom lotus flowers. I have not seen a handsome man like Zidu, but have met this arrogant fellow.

On the mountain grow tall green pines; in the lowlands grow red knotweed. I have not seen a good man like Zichong, but have met this cunning rogue.

"The Mountain Has Mulberry Trees" consists of two stanzas, each with four lines.
