Lush and bright the plantain, let us quickly gather it. Lush and bright the plantain, let us quickly collect it.

Lush and bright the plantain, we pick it one by one. Lush and bright the plantain, we pluck it in handfuls.

Lush and bright the plantain, we tuck it in our skirts. Lush and bright the plantain, we tuck our skirts in our belts to bring it home.

"Plantain" has three stanzas, each with four lines.
