The Pillar

Preface: The poem "Zhu" satirizes the social customs of its time. In those days, when people married, the groom did not personally go to fetch the bride.

Is he waiting for me by the screen and gate? Are the earplugs by his ears made of white silk thread? Are they also adorned with beautiful qionghua gems?

Is he waiting for me in the courtyard? Are the earplugs by his ears made of blue silk thread? Are they also adorned with sparkling qiongying gems?

Is he waiting for me in the main hall? Are the earplugs by his ears made of yellow silk thread? Are they also adorned with jade-like qiongying gems?

"Zhu" consists of three stanzas, each with three lines.
